GovRAMP released a new GovRAMP Adoption Guide to help public sector organizations review adoption options, as well as build an implementation roadmap. According to GovRAMP in a June 29 blog post, the guide helps “organizations move from planning to execution based on their own governance structures, procurement processes and risk tolerance.” Some of the topics GovRAMP addresses include adoption models, roadmap development and procurement strategies. The guide aims to build better alignment across teams by helping these organizations evaluate vendors consistently and set clear expectations. The document also helps these organizations manage third-party risk during the technology lifecycle; GovRAMP explains how to leverage security assessments and make use of limited resources.
A joint letter from state and local government associations sent to members of the Senate Committee on Appropriations asked for $300 million in 2027 for the State and Local Cybersecurity Grant Program. Created in 2021, the SLCGP serves as a “vital tool in cybersecurity preparedness” for states, as well as local, tribal and territorial governments, according to the letter; protections offered by the SLCGP include multifactor authentication, access management and cybersecurity training. State organizations signing the June 23 letter included the National Association of State Chief Information Officers and the National Conference of State Legislatures. “In a joint letter,” NASCIO explained on a LinkedIn post about the request, “the organizations highlighted the program’s significant role in strengthening cybersecurity capabilities across state and local governments and emphasized the importance of continued federal investment. NASCIO also remains committed to advocating for the program’s long-term reauthorization to help sustain and advance cyber resilience nationwide.”
