Top 10 Strategic Priorities for State Government Operations
The top 10 strategic priorities for state government range from the digitization of operations to the modernization of procurement. The Top 10 Core Strategies from the National Association of State Chief Administrators reveals the varied responsibilities facing state government operations. The Digitization of Government Operations Access topped the list; NASCA defines that as “access to virtual government services that are transparent, and citizen focused through dashboards, budget proceedings, procurement, and hiring processes for all government departments; and internal digital tools that simplify processes, expedite service delivery, and reduce errors, including automated customer service.”
Ind. Child Care System ‘Severely Broken’
Indiana lawmakers heard testimony from child care stakeholders during testimony at a study committee examining the child care system. Business and nonprofit leaders, child care providers, advocates and workers shared the challenges posed by the shortage of child care facilities and workers. According to WFYI, “many people testified about the burden created by Indiana’s licensing system. State agencies are currently reviewing licensing and regulations, with recommendations to improve them due by the middle of 2024.”
Wis. Gov. Evers Vetoes Two Occupational Licensing Bills
Wisc. Gov Tony Evers vetoed two bills related to the state’s occupational licensing program. One bill required the Department of Safety and Professional Services to share statistics related to license applications and renewals. Another bill required DSPS to post application data on the agency’s website. According to the Wisconsin Examiner, the introduction of the bills follows a year of criticism of the agency because of backlogged licensing applications.
