The NASPO/StateRAMP Procurement Task Force announced the introduction of their Procurement Cloud Security Resource Tool. According to StateRAMP the “tool streamlines government procurement & aligns cloud purchases with our standards, fostering collaboration across Procurement, IT & Risk teams.” StateRAMP explains that the tool helps state and local governments select vendors who meet security standards for protecting sensitive information. According to the StateRAMP website, StateRAMP and NASPO initially formed the task force to “harmonize” procurement and cybersecurity.
A new report projects a shortage of healthcare workers in the United States—with a total deficit of 100,000 workers by 2028. To handle the shortage, some states chose to join the PA Licensure Compact, according to Stateline on September 6; the agreement enables physician assistants to practice in any participating state, without needing to obtain an additional license. As of July 2024, 13 states enacted the PA Compact.
An audit of the Texas board that regulates veterinarians shows the board fixed some, but not all issues, noted by a state commission. The audit of the Texas Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners lists the Sunset Advisory Commission recommendations—and rates them from fully implemented to not implemented. The report noted that ongoing issues include defining and implementing enforcement procedures, as well as a way to track enforcement data.
