ChatGPT Passes US Medical Licensing Exam

A recent study found that ChatGPT performed at or near the threshold of 60% accuracy on the United States Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE). The study, published in the journal Plos Digital Health on February 9, concluded that Artificial Intelligence (AI) offers the “potential to assist with medical education, and potentially, clinical decision-making.” According to the author, ChatGPT achieved this without specialized training.

US Massage Legislation Introduced in 2023

Bills related to massage therapy number 20 so far across the United States. From Arkansas to Washington, states introduced legislation in 2023 that affects massage therapists. And nationwide, the U.S. Congress passed the Non-Opioids Prevent Addiction in the Nation (NOPAIN) Act (HR3259/S586) in late December. The act expands “patient and provider access to FDA-approved non-opioid pain-management approaches in all outpatient surgical settings beginning in 2025,” according to Massage Magazine on Feb. 27.

Indiana IT Removes Degree Requirements to Address Workforce Woes

The Indiana Department of Information Technology discovered that 70% of potential applicants chose not to apply for jobs that mentioned a preference for a four-year degree. Jon Rogers, Director of Strategic Workforce Planning at the Indiana Office of Technology talks about the State Earn and Learn Program on NASCIO’s Regulation Matters. In the program, new associates learn on the job and take classes to move them into a government technology career.
