Q: What do you like most about working at GL Solutions?

A: I value opportunities to gain a deeper awareness of my own talents, abilities and limitations.  My experience at GL Solutions constantly changes, giving me new information and perspectives.  I also love people.  Working at GL Solutions gives me a chance to work with clients and other employees.

Q: What is your title and when did you start working at GL Solutions?

A:  CEO, 1997

Q: What sort of work do you do each day to meet our mission: GL Solutions helps governments run, grow and adapt?

A:  I develop, communicate and align various teams and departments toward our mission.  For example, I attend meetings to brainstorm our software roadmap and related functionality that will help agencies run.  Then, I provide objectives and high-level supervision to marketing, development, testing, documentation, personnel, finance and account management that resulted in delivery of the software plan.  I do the same kind of thing with five or six other strategic objectives.  I also do a bunch of administrative work to run the company.

Q: What is something most people don’t know about you?

A:  Because people are aware of your title, they are cautious and respectful when they talk to you at the office, socials, etc.  That leaves me feeling a little isolated and makes my experiences shallower than I prefer.  Its kind of like being a dad.  To your kids, you will always be “Dad”.  But your closer friends or spouse probably know you more holistically. My talents often place me in roles that have a title like CEO, dad or city councilor.  It took me more than twenty years to stop feeling uncomfortable with the way people act toward me.  Now, I realize that no matter how they feel, I can always try to see the real people standing in front of me. When I do, I am usually filled with love – which is a really nice experience.  I honestly find most people lovely.  When I need to step out of my various roles, I go hiking or sit by the lake and reflect on what’s really going on inside.
